WHY WAS KOMPANY CLAPPING?

Vincent Kompany and company were officially eliminated from the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night after they lost 1 - 0 to German Champions Borussia Dortmund
After the game while the other players shamefully walked down the tunnel, Vincent Kompany was busy clapping his hands and waving the fans. Many were left wondering why he was clapping or rather still was there any reason for Him to be clapping?
Manchester City have now crashed out of the UEFA Champions League for two consecutive seasons, and Vincent Kompany himself have failed to qualify from the group stage of the competition with any club which He has played for.

City qualified for this season's Champions league by virtue of their winning the English premier League and so took one of the automatic qualification slot.
City's deals in the summer transfer window showed their intent and ambition to better their last European outing where they not only crashed out of the Champions League but were also knocked out of the Europa league along with City rivals Manchester United.

City brought in the Likes of Maicon from Inter Milan  a former Champions League winner, they also brought in Javi Garcia from Benfica and youngsters in the persons of Scot Sinclair and  Jack Rodwell both from fellow English Premiership club Swansea and Everton respectively to add depth to their already quality squad.
Because of this Manchester city were regarded as a force to be reckon with when the Champions League starts.
But things started falling apart when they were first drawn in group D alongside Spanish Champion Real Madrid, German Champions Dortmund and Dutch champions Ajax.
Thing then went from bad to worst when they sat bottom of the table after the first round of group stage matches.
Many expected a turn around when the second round of matches started but all City could do was to pick a single point at Home in the return match against Ajax after going down 3-1 in Holland 2 weeks earlier.
Manchester City's fate was no longer in their hands after they failed to beat Real Madrid at the Etihad stadium Manchester they could only manage a 1- 1 draw.
Then the final nail was put on their coffee when they suffered another defeat but this time at the hands of Borussia Dortmund.
Vincent Kompany's led Manchester city became the first English team not to win a single match in the UEFA Champions League.
They scored a total of 7 goals in 6 matches and conceeded 11 and finished bottom of Group D which wasn't enough to see them participate in the UEFA Europa League.
Following all this series of drama and poor showing from City, one is left with no other option than to ask "Why was Vincent Kompany Clapping"?
