The Barclay's premier league returns for match day 21 after a busy festive season which was interrupted by the FA Cup break. This weekend sees a total of ten matches to be played, with eight being played on Saturday and the remaining two played on Sunday.
Below are my predictions.
1. Sunderland VS Liverpool 12:45pm
If this game were to be played last season I would have probably gone for a Liverpool resounding victory, but with the circumstances the Red find themselves this season with no striker to rely on and with Gus Poyet forming the Black cats into an unpredictable team capable of standing their ground against any team in the league.
Based on these I would go for a narrow Liverpool win.
Sunderland 1 - 2 Liverpool.
2. Burnley vs QPR 3PM
A match of two equal sides, but with QPR now experts in winning only home games this have helped made my prediction a lot easier.
Burnley on the other hand have started to find their feet in the league with 3 wins and 8 draws against 9 defeats and have found their way to the 19th position on the log after sitting so much at the foot of the table.
I would have gone for a Burnley win but with Harry Redknap a master of the relegation battle I see this one finishing as a draw for both teams.
Burnley 3 - 3 QPR
3. Chelsea VS Newcastle 3pm
It is no longer news that Newcastle is among the very few teams to give Chelsea headache irrespective of who the manager of the Stamford bridge team is.
This fixture in the first half of the season saw Newcastle stun Chelsea and inflict them with their first defeat of the season and brought down the curtain on any hope of going unbeaten in the league.
For this particular game I see Jose Mourihno's side getting their own share of the 3 point from the available 6.
Chelsea 3 - 1 Newcastle
4. Everton VS Manchester City 3pm
This fixture last season produced a lot of goals including the wonder goal from 20 yr old Ross Barkley.
Just like Chelsea, Man City know how important 3 points is at this stage of the league. Though Everton will give City a run for their money I see Man city stealing all 3 points in this one.
Everton 1 - 2 Man City
5. Leicester City VS Aston Villa 3pm
This fixture looks like one that will end in a bore draw with a lot of chances wasted by both teams.
Leicester City 0 - 0 Aston Villa.
6. Swansea VS West Ham
With both teams missing key players from their team thanks to the African Cup of Nations set to be held in the Equatorial Guinea in a week time. This seem to be a balanced match, but with the Swans being the home team I can't imagine them loosing this one.
Swansea 2 - 0 West Ham
7 West Ham VS Hull city.
Not much need to be said about this fixture but i see it to be another draw game of the weekend with a score of 2 - 2.
8. Crystal Palace VS Tottenham Hot spur 3pm
I see Mauricio Pochettino speaking pure English at his post match press conference because it is now his tradition of speaking English whenever he wins a match and Spanish when his side looses.
Crystal Palace who have be going from one managerial transition to another may prove to be a tricky test for spurs.
Alan Pardew who enjoyed his game with his new team against Dover in the FA Cup may find it difficult to cope with the goal scoring form of Harry Kane and collective team play of Mauricio Pochettino men who seemed to have adjusted to his philosophy. With that I see Spurs winning this one comfortably.
Crystal Palace 2 - 4 Tottenham
9. Arsenal VS Stoke
Stoke have for some time now proven to be a stumbling block for Arsenal with Wenger once describing Stoke as a Rugby team. But all that ill image of Stoke has long been forgotten since the coming of Mark Hughes to the Britannia.
Though Stoke may have won this same fixture in December, I see Arsenal getting the better of them this time around especially as they play in front of their fans who for some obvious reason are beginning to ask for a change in the team management.
Arsenal 1 - 0 Stoke
10. Man Utd VS Southampton
To be honest I am going for a Man Utd win maybe because I am a fan of the LVG philosophy.
Man Utd may not have been performing so well since December and having been falling over the line pretty much, but STATS have it that Man Utd have only conceded more than one goal (West Brom away) once in their last 15 games.
With Southampton currently occupying the fourth spot and just a point behind United, this goes a long way to show that this team are not just pretenders but real contenders for a place in Europe especially with experience of their Manager Koeman.
I see this game going down to the wire and victory going to the team that wants the 3 points the most.
Man Utd 2 - 1 Southampton.
