Wilfried Zaha has been making the Headline in recent times since his surprise call up to the English senior national Team. But today's Headline came in another dimension where it was quoted "Zaha should be Thankful"- Hodgson.
But the question is, does Zaha has any reason to be actually thankful?
This is not the first time an English national team coach is handing a senior debut to a youngster who have not proved his worth at the highest level.
Unfortunately most of the players who have honoured such invitation have only found themselves not making any meaningful mark on the international scene and loosing the opportunity to play for their motherland in the cases of players with dual nationality.
In Zaha's case, with his country of birth Ivory Coast still hopeful of getting him play for them after sending Didier Drogba and other top official to speak to him and convince him the chances of the 20 year old to make a mark on the international stage with the English national team is looking very much unlikely.
Wilfried Zaha who plays as a wide winger and also as a striker will have to do something extra ordinary to break into the English first team or even the back up squad at least, because from the look of things England already can boast of having a lot of players who play in the same position as he does who have already made their mark in their respective clubs and even in the national team.
Looking at England, on the flank they have players like Ashley Young, Theo Walcott, Aranon Lennon, Adam Johnson, Ox Chamberlain, Danny Welbeck and many others.
When it comes to His alternative position which is playing as a striker or a supporting striker England has a lot of arsenal who can actually gun down any team in the world. With players such as Wayne Rooney, Defoe, Andy Caroll, Garbi Agbolahor, Young and Danny Welbeck who can also be deployed in that position. While players like Peter Crouch and Darent Bent are still battling to make the team on a regular basis.
With the Nations cup coming up in two months time and with Ivory coast gradually climbing up the ladder as a strong footballing nation. Zaha's chances of making it with his Native country is very high and the future is really bright. At the young age of 20 and with his abundant speed and skills he can help bring in something fresh in to the Ivorian national team and join forces with already established players such as Salomon Kalou and Gervihno, Coupled with Africans' craze for foreign based players especially those that play in England, He will actually be the fans favourite in no time.
And with Ivory Coast already qualified for the African cup of Nations, this will provide the Talented Crystal Palace youngster to showcase his talent to the world on a the Continental stage.
Watching all this facts stare us at the face one really needs to wonder if Roy Hodgson is actually right by suggesting that Zaha needs to be "thankful" for His surprised call up to the national Team not forgetting that even if he plays for England in this game he can still for his native country Ivory coast some time in the future.
