Vidic has been out of action since September after undergoing a knee surgery but is back in full training.
The 31-year old former Spartak Moscow defender was initially not expected back until Christmas after undergoing a Meniscus operation on the same knee that he injured last season.
In his absence United have struggled to keep clean sheets, United have conceded a total of 18 goals in 14 matches so far this season in the league. United have not conceded as much goals in a very long time during the first half of the season.
Vidic last played for United in their 1 - 0 win against Galatasary in the Champions League on 19th September.
In his absence fellow defender Jonny Evans has stepped up his game and has put in a number of sturdy performances at the back and have started to look like the club's most reliable center back. Another plus is the return of Chris Smalling who too has also looked tidy at the back since his not fantastic outing against Aston villa at the hands of Christian Bentenke.
In recent times this new partnership of Evans and Smalling is beginning to bear fruit, with the pair in action when United recorded a clean sheet at Old trafford against West ham on Wednesday while Rio Ferdinand who is currently in his last year of contract sat on the bench thinking of what the future holds for him.
Vidic himself have played only about 10 to 12 games for united in the last 18 months all thanks to injury has been finding it a bit difficult to get back to his previous fierce and aggressive form due to lack of competitive matches surely a lot will be going through the mind of the United skipper.
DOES UNITED STILL NEED VIDIC?
Yes the club still need him despite his recent not to commendable form, United still need him if not for anything but for the mere fact his name is Vidic. That is enough to send any attacker shaking. But the question is for how long will he be fit until he goes back to the treatment room considering the fact that age is no longer a friend to him?
