Mikel Arteta had the chance to hand Arsenal an undeserved victory at the Emirate when he was handed the role to take the controversial penalty with the last kick of the game after centre ref Phil Dowd pointed to the spot after Fulham's Sascha Riether appeared to have handled the ball in the penalty box, but the Spanish midfielder found his kick saved by Australian veteran Schwarzer to settle the game at 3- 3 apiece.

Fulham looked the livest of the two teams but it was Arsenal who took the lead through Oliver Giroud for his 1st home premier league goal on the 11th minutes from a powerful free header.
Fulham lost Kieran Richardson to a hamstring injury and, while they were waiting to replace him, Arteta set up Podolski to make it 2-0 12 minutes later, the German getting in front of Sascha Riether to flick past Schwarzer.
But the visitors were never lacking in threat and pulled a goal back on 29 when Dimitar Berbatov was lost by at least four defenders and headed home a Bryan Ruiz corner.

 And five minutes before half-time, the Emirates fans were left wondering where their back-four were again when Berbatov ran on to a finely-judged ball down the right and Alex Kacaniklic headed past Vito Mannone, who will think he could have done more to keep the ball out of the net.

 Fulham nearly snatched the lead on the stroke of half-time but Ashkan Dejagah couldn't quite get enough on John Arne Riise's cross and Arsenal breathed a sigh of relief.

The visitors started the second with intent.

Walcott, though, continued to provide Arsenal's threat down the right, and his cross was just too high for Giroud.
The England forward then took the ball on himself from the halfway line and driving forwards before firing a curling shot just over the top-left angle.
Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey replaced Francis Coquelin.
Arsenal were pushing Fulham deeper, if without really stretching the visitors' defence.
Fulham midfielder Steve Sidwell, who had been cautioned in the first half, upended Santi Cazorla 25 yards out, but was given a final warning by lenient referee Phil Dowd.
The official, however, got it right a few minutes later when Ruiz robbed Arteta on the right side of the penalty area and was pulled back by the Spaniard.
Berbatov confidently sent Mannone the wrong way from the spot to turn the match on its head after 67 minutes.
The drama was not over yet, though, as Arsenal quickly levelled.
Giroud's shot came back off the post and Walcott send the rebound into the six-yard box, where the France striker guided a cushioned header over Schwarzer to make it 3-3.
Giroud was only denied his hat-trick by a superb save from Schwarzer, turning his fierce 20-yarder around the post, as a topsy-turvy game headed for the final 10 minutes.
And there would be more drama in the closing seconds with the last kick of the game proving to be Arteta's penalty, given for a marginal handball, but Schwarzer came to the rescue with a superb save to give Fulham a well-deserved point.
And once Again had to settle for a single point from a possible 6 in 1 week.
