SOUTH AFRICA 2013

While millions of soccer loving fans were glued to their Television set watching the Wednesday match day 3 of the 2012/2013 Uefa champions League season, something was happening in the southern part of Africa.

The city of Durban in south Africa played host for the draw of the 2013 African cup of Nations which is our equivalent of the Euros or the Concacaf competition.
A total of 16 teams were drawn, with the top seeded teams in Pot A, a pot which included the following teams;South Africa, Zambia, Ghana, Ivory Coast.
And then Pot B;Mali, Tunisia, Angola, Nigeria
Pot C;Algeria, Burkina Faso, Morocco, Niger
Pot D;  Togo, Cape Verde Islands, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia
After all said and done a total of 4 groups were drawn, Group A, Group B, Group c and Group D.
Group A which included the host nation South Africa has the following teams in it.
Cape Verde, Morocco, Angola

Group B: Ghana, DR Congo, Niger, Mali

Group C : Zambia, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Nigeria

Group D ; Ivory Coast, Togo, Algeria, Tunisia

The first game of the tournament is on the 19th of January 2013, Between host South Africa and cape Verde. Venue: Soccer city, Johannesburg. Time : 18:00 UTC+2(standard south African time)
