Last night Arsene Wenger and in fact the whole of Arsenal Fc responded with a big shout when they crushed Reading by 5goals to 2 at the Madejski Stadium.
Santi Cazorla grabbed a hat-trick as Arsenal climbed up to fifth in the Premier League after the victory.
Arsenal went ahead early on as Lukas Podolski lashed the ball home past Adam Federici after just 14 minutes.
Spanish star Cazorla then took control as he scored two goals in two-minutes just before half-time. The former Malaga man then cemented his claim for the match-ball with his third on the hour mark.
Reading then showed some real spirit as they battled back with two goals of their own with Adam Le Fondre and Jimmy Kebe both slotting home.
But the fairytale comeback never materialised as Theo Walcott - who started the game as a central striker - fired home Arsenal's fifth.
The result moves Arsenal up to fifth in the Premier League table while Reading remain rooted to the bottom and in danger of being cut adrift in the fight to avoid relegation.
The tone was set early as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain tested Reading goalkeeper Federici early on before Jobi McAnuff squandered a good chance for the Royals at the other end.
Arsenal were ahead on 14 minutes as Podolski was afforded far too much room in the box, before Cazorla scored twice in three minutes as he capitalised on some static defending from the hosts.
Federici did well to keep out Oxlade-Chamberlain again and send the hosts in only three down, but the Australian could do nothing to prevent Cazorla completing his hat-trick by rounding off a brilliant move after the break.
Reading threatened the unlikeliest of comebacks when Le Fondre and Kebe both converted one-on-ones within the space of five minutes, but Arsenal managed to slow things down and calm the nerves.
And the rout was completed when Cazorla turned provider for Walcott, who showed a striker's composure to slot home left-footed into the bottom corner.
After the match a relived Wenger said "The target was to win in a convincing way. We focused on playing the game. At 4-0 we had a little wobbling period. And at 4-2, after what happened last week, we became a bit uncertain. We lost a bit of focus and paid for it.
"But overall it was important to go out and play and give the right answer on the football pitch."
There was a new-look strike force on show with Theo Walcott playing in the middle of a three-pronged attack with Lukas Podolski and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain either side.
And Wenger was impressed with Walcott's display.
"In training sessions he has shown the abilities to play in this position - the timing of his movement - and for his first game I think he has done very well. There are very encouraging signs.
"We had pace, that was the target in the build-up to the game and overall we gave them many problems through that.
"I said many times I believe in this team and the players want to do well. In the league - apart from the Swansea game - we have been quite consistent but we need to go from strength from strength.
"It's been difficult (the past week), you'd prefer it when everything goes well. It's been interesting also - you discover who is strong and you discover who can remain united and on that front in the club we were very good.
"In 16 years we went out just once against a team from a lower division . If you compare that record to all the other clubs in England it is still the best record.
"I agree that it was hurtful, and very disappointing. But on the night Bradford did very well. I am responsible for when it goes well - and I have to take the criticism when it doesn't go well."
Arsenal's next fixture is an away trip to Wigan on the 22nd of December after which they will entertain West Ham at the Emirate on the 26th(Boxing day).
Wenger may have won back the hearts of His followers but any defeat again along the line before the New year will surely make the fans to sing the "Sack Wenger Carol"
