WHO NEEDS FALCAO THE MOST?

Atletico Madrid ‘goal-machine’ Radamel Falcao will likely be departing the Vicente Calderon Stadium this summer in search of pastures new but where exactly should he head?
If, by chance, he ends up on a plane to England he could very well take the Premier League by storm.

Chelsea have been linked with a ‘swoop’, a ‘bid’, a ‘move’ and increasing ‘interest’ with Falcao since last summer, right the way through January and back out the other side of it.
The Blues desperately needed a striker in January and they opted for the poor man’s Radamel Falcao – Newcastle United’s Demba Ba who, in fairness to him, is a very very good striker.
However, since his move to Stamford Bridge, Ba has seen a dip in form and, along with perpetual flop Fernando Torres, Chelsea still desperately need a striker.
They have the money to part with £40 million or thereabouts and they are the current European champions (albeit not for much longer), which is enough of a draw to attract the continent’s most-wanted man.
However, looking at Torres and Ba as case studies, one has to wonder whether heading to Chelsea is such a good idea. Their revolving door of managers and personnel hardly makes for security, continuity and consistency and I believe the form and confidence of the players is directly related to that.
So what about Manchester City? Well, it’s a similar story over at the Etihad, unfortunately. The only change to the script is that City have stuck by Roberto Mancini (so far) and seem to have more patience in general.
They’re not the fast food club of the Premier League by any means – they have waited and worked hard to win the title last year. They worked their way gradually up the table and into European places. Their growth seemed to be rather more gradual and subsequently, I think they’ll have some stability moving forward.
They sold Mario Balotelli in January and there’s still the possible that either or both Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko could move on this summer. Even Sergio Aguero’s future is reportedly uncertainly at present.
One thing’s for sure, City will definitely need at least one striker and there is no better than Radamel Falcao. They’ve got the money but they need to put it where their mouth is, as it were. If they want to reclaim the title next term, nothing would send a message to United like signing Falcao.
However, of all Falcao’s options, surely Manchester United would be the most attractive? It’s a no-brainer, right? They’re about to be crowned English champions in a matter of 6 games that are nothing more than a formality.
They have the best manager in the world. Probably ever. They are the most popular and well-known club in the world and his name could and would be sung across all corners of the globe.
There’s one problem though – United have four very good strikers already in Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez, and Danny Welbeck. If Falcao were to come in, it’s not rocket science; one of them would have to leave.
