Kanu Nwankwo fondly known as Papilo, has come out openly to tell some NFF officials that he wants a bigger role in the backroom staff of the senior national team "The Super Eagles" heading to the African cup of Nations next January in South Africa.
Kanu who is Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) Soccer Ambassador says " He appreciates his role as soccer Ambassador but believes he could do even more for the team being something like Team coordinator.
The former Arsenal and Portsmouth star who is currently studying for His coaching badge in England has been around the team for their qualifying matches for both the 2014 World cup as well as the 2013 Nations cup.
Kanu is famously remembered for leading Nigeria to an historic Atlanta Olympics Gold medal in 1996, and went on to win the African Player of the year on two occasions, He also participated in the 1998, 2002 and 2010 world cup as well as the 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010 Nations cup.
So in terms of experience He has it all.

1. Kanu being someone loved and respected by all Nigerian both home and abroad, He will probably be the best person to address the players and tell them exactly what the nation expects of them.
2. As a player who have seen it all, His presence in the backroom will be a source of motivation for the players especially the Home based players and the younger ones who are just beginning their National team debut in an international competition.
3. Nwankwo Kanu with his role as an Ambassador can readily be the link between the NFF and the players, which have often proven to be a serious issue within the Super Eagles.
4. As a former international his presence in the camp will make the players feel safe and comfortable knowing there is someone in their midst who have been in this position before.
5. With His achievement as a players and not being able to win the Nations cup trophy on 6 different occasions, the players will take it up as a challenge to win the trophy which the Former Super star could not win.
With this and many other positive Psychological contribution which Papilo's presence will offer the Eagles. Am of the opinion that the Nigerian football governing body should kindly and speedily grant this passionate desire of a true Nigerian Legend who simply wants to see the country's football move in the right direction where it deserves to be
