WHERE IS MARKO MARIN?

The German winger, who arrived in a transfer worth 7 million pounds from Werder Bremen.
With four new attacking midfielders signed over the summer, there was always a chance that one of them would struggle for playing time, but Marko Marin perhaps wouldn't have expected to be firmly behind four players in the pecking order for his position already.
In recent matches Victor Moses has been the latest man to impress ahead of Marin in Chelsea's line-up, placing himself as next in line behind the first choice trio of Mata, Hazard and Oscar. Having returned from injury a little while ago, Marin has been an unused substitute in Chelsea's last five games in all competitions, not seeing a minute of action even in the 5-4 League Cup win over Manchester United. With this lack of playing time, rumours are inevitably coming that he will look to leave the club soon, worried that his chances of playing international football will be damaged by not featuring for his club regularly.

Borussia Monchengladbach have emerged as one side who would be keen on a move for Marin, according to Sky Sports. They are the club where Marin started his career and have struggled at times this year, having sold the influential Reus to Dortmund in the summer. Marin could be seen a driving force for their attempts to reclaim fourth place in the Bundesliga.
Marin was impressive in pre-season for Chelsea, so it is surprising he has had so few chances of late. The early injury didn't help, but there have been opportunities for Di Matteo to use him since, and perhaps the German is seen as not suitable for Chelsea current system. Marin is a more conventional wide attacker, whereas the rest of Chelsea's attacking midfielders are comfortable coming into the middle of the pitch.
Chelsea have a string of important matches coming up before the new year, and will also have to contend with fixture congestions due to their participation in the Cub World Championship in December.
With this in mind, Marin will surely see some action before January, but if he cannot push himself into contention for the starting eleven by then, maybe a move, either on loan or permanently, back to Germany could be on the cards.
